[Well, Galo, after cleaning up his hand, is going to take a walk to clear his head. That happens to take him past the playground, probably, though he's obviously trying to blow off some steam.]

[ toi is on one of the swings. he isn't actually swinging, but mostly just... well, sitting there.

he spots galo walking by though. ]

... didn't he lose a finger too...?

[ he did not mean to say it out loud but ]

[Glancing over at him, and then raising his hand, which is already bandaged up in what used to be a clean white shirt.]

That's me.

[soba]

[ he keeps losing his shirts. ]

You got yelled at for that already, right?

[burningrescue]

[Sadly, this shirt belonged to Asch originally.]

Aww, man. Yeah, kind of. But you can let me have it too, if you want.

[ honestly, he is way too tired to yell at anyone ]

Just don't do it again. That would be such a waste.

Yeah, I know. I won't.

[He wouldn't expect it; he's a little surprised it even matters so much. But Toi is actually a pretty good kid.]

Why are you all the way out here by yourself?

No one else is.

[ well, except galo.

but it was a pretty emotional and stressful day that ended as badly as it could. he does not want to deal with too much crying. ]

[Yeah. He doesn't mind crying, but he gets wanting to be alone sometimes.]

Makes sense. I thought I'd go see how far I can walk before it turns you around again.

[soba]

It might spit you out earlier than usual to spite you.

[ his opinion on this place is even lower than usual. ]

week 2; post investigation

[burningrescue]

[Ugh! Well, when Galo smells smoke, he's immediately running into the hallway, dead on his feet or not. He won't really take the time to carefully examine anything; he's just trying to find the source of it.]

[soba]

[ it's funny because toi wanted to just go back to his room, but even he has to pause at the smell ]

Is something on fire?

[burningrescue]

You smell it, too?

[This is. Distressing to him!]

Help me find where it's coming from. We gotta make sure it's out.

[soba]

Dammit...

[ but he nods, and starts to walk around to see where the it smells strongest. ]

I don't even see smoke.

[burningrescue]

[He shakes his head.]

It smells like something that's still burning, too. Ugh! What the hell!

[soba]

Maybe it's on a different floor?

[ he starts walking towards the stairs and then just. stops. ]

Uh...

[burningrescue]

Huh?

[Whirling around to go check out the stairs. Oh.]

Aww, shit. It's the werefish again, huh? She slimed all over the place and somebody tried to fight her with fire?

[soba]

Or... something. There were three names, right? Maybe the fire's unrelated.

[ SINCE THERE'S THREE GODDAMN CASES!!! ]

[burningrescue]

Maybe. For now, though -

[Ugh. He's so fucking tired.]

I can't just let everybody go to sleep if there's a chance there's a fire burning somewhere.

[soba]

[ ... he sure is heroic. ]

We can still check the other floors to make sure. Third's probably our best bet since there's no smoke coming from any of these.

[burningrescue]

[Sure. That, and a little obsessive when it comes to fire. Nodding, though, Toi's calmness rubbing off on him a little.]

Yeah. It might be up there.

[He's going to. Try to climb the stairs while avoiding all the nasty slime.]

[soba]

[ he watches him start walking up....



and then goes after him. avoiding slime. ]

[He's hurrying, so it's possible he'll step in some of it anyway, we'll see! But once they get to the top of the stairs...there's nothing. The smell is gone.]

I don't smell it anymore, do you?

[soba]

No...

[ he frowns, and then turns around and starts going back down ]

Shit, is it in one of the rooms then?

[burningrescue]

[Nodding. Though - ]

It could just be. Magic or whatever? Like how only some people can see the crime scenes sometimes. If that's the case, we might not find it at all.
