[Catch Galo hanging around the billiard room. It looks like he's trying to figure out how to play pool? But he hasn't realized the cues are involved yet, so he's just sort of bowling the balls across the table.]

[Obviously he's going to be here because he likes a good game, but....]

[Galo. Galo, honey. What are you doing?]

Uh, dude? That's not how you play this.

[He's literally dropping two balls into one of the pockets right now.]

How do you mean?

You have to use the cue sticks to get the balls into the holes! See, they're hangin' over there!

[He points to over Galo's shoulder. Look! Cue sticks!]

Have you never played billiards before?

[He grabs one of the cue sticks and does a complicated kind of baton twirl with it, checking it out.]

We used to have foosball in the breakroom, but it broke.

Foosball is pretty good. But billiards...billiards requires STRATEGY.

[Which is a lot to say for two idiots with no brains.]

Hey, hey, this ain't flag tossing. Be careful with that! Here, let me show you how to play. Hand me that triangle thing hangin' on the table.

Oof. Strategy, huh?

[He doesn't seem like a strategy guy, does he? But handing Mammon the triangle anyway.]

I'm better at flag tossing than strategy.

...Well, honestly, it's not rocket science. Its just a matter of knowing where the balls go. Like, I'm pretty sure you can figure it out.

[He's getting all of the balls into the triangle, leaving the cue ball out.]

Do you flag toss as part of puttin' out fires, or what?

[Mammon won't be glad he asked. Doing a toss again.]

I fight fires with my matoi! Or, well, the Captain says it's useless and doesn't belong in a fire situation, so now I use the matoi gear instead. But I still know how to wield one really well.

[Sometime in the afternoon, post-execution, Galo is back down at the lake area, pacing the edge of the lake. Come bother him?]

[Heeeeey, if it isn't their resident Kraken whisperer. Mammon spares a glance into the lake, before turning to Galo, quirking an eyebrow.]

Waitin' to say hi to your new friend?

Nah. He's probably taking a break. I was trying to research what kind of stuff a kraken might eat...but then I got distracted.

I guess they eat fish and stuff? Unless they come up to eat stuff off the land, which I doubt.

[A long pause.]

Did you ever wonder what the hell a kraken's doin' here, anyways?

Not even a bit. This whole place is weird as fuck! Why shouldn't there be a kraken?

I was wonderin' if it was like the sea serpent my brother released into the ocean. [what] Like, the kraken was a pet and was just left here.

[Okay, here's where I explain Galo has never read one of the profiles and he thinks Mammon is just. A guy.]

Yeah. We used to have this big event called the Monster Fair. My brother Levi brought his serpent pet to be judged, and it got second place, which wasn't bad...but Lucifer was like, "hey, you can't keep it in the house" so Levi, the idiot, decided to release it into the ocean. Now we all have to be really careful goin' to the beach because its still out there and its super huge now.

[He says this as casually as talking about a lost dog.]

[Galo just accepts this. He's very into the story, though.]

Even huger than the kraken?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure, though I haven't seen it recently. His last pet that got lost also got realllllllly big, too. Henry 1.0, the snake.........I'm surprised his most recent one is just a dinky little goldfish.

No. My only figurines are my hikeshi figures. [That definitely are not produced by anyone and Galo must have had them custom made.]

But I'm pretty into Japanese culture and history, as well as a newly acquired interest in sea monsters.

Well, whatever. I like Levi a lot. Cause he's my brother, y'know? And...some of the stuff he plays and gets into is cool. Never tell him I said that, though. I have a reputation to uphold!

So I guess what you're into is totally fine. Though I personally just don't get bein' into a whole island heritage thing...

It's just that before they invented fire tech, or even horse drawn engines, the city of Edo was at constant risk of fire. That is, until the hikeshi - brave men who fought fire with their bare hands - arrived to take the fires out.

...They fought fire with their BARE HANDS? Are they stupid?

Well, sometimes they had hoses. And they had some tools. [Stop ruining his narration Mammon!!] But most stuff wasn't invented yet. The only way they could stop the fires was to tear down buildings and try to smother the fire or stop it in its tracks. Otherwise, the whole city might go up.
